@ Daren

Thanks for your comment. We have looked into this in some detail, and in practice LinkedIn do not enforce this point unless the user is blatantly misrepresenting themselves.

In fact, they even confirmed that their agreement does NOT say that you can't add something into your title/name.

Happy to discuss further if you are still concerned.

This is an excellent presentation really getting the message across that advisers do need to have a presence on this medium if they want to be taken seriously, especially by the corporate market as ...they will be checked out!

Thanks for your comment Daren - this has been raised before; I do it myself but they have never brought it up with me.

It also seems to be pretty commonplace on huge numbers of LI profiles, and we wait to see if they will do anything about it.

It's also worth bearing in mind that this is just ONE of the ways that will help search results on LinkedIn. The key is to update every one of the profile sections.

Thanks again

My only comment is that LinkedIn are now auditing accounts and some of the practices outlined in this presentation go against their User Agreement - http://www.linkedin.com/static?key=user_agreement.
One in particular is the use of your job title and company name in the account name fields and as a consequence you will be asked to make the relevant changes to bring your account back in line with their policies.

Excellent presentation and highly recommended – be sure to pay attention and take some notes! Once you’re on top of all this be sure to check out the Microsoft Outlook Social Connector with LinkedIn.
