I founded Thornton Associates Ltd in 2000 and also have the distinction of being sole advanced diploma holder (APFS) and Chartered Financial Planner in the Isle of Man.

In March 2009 I became a local CII Council member. My main goal is to drive forward professionalism within the IFA community and encourage implementation of the (sensible parts of) RDR, TCF and CAR initiatives in the UK in the Island. eg We still do not have commission disclosure in the Isle of Man.

In October 2009 with a number of other locally based IFAs we reformed a trade association which has similar goals to the local CII but is more of a lobby group. Part of my role is to liaise with our regulator; the IOM FSC although I can't say I agree with other members on everything

The first PFS Regional Road Show waas held in the IOM 10th Feb 2010. We had enough bums on seat to justify its ongoing place in the regional programme rather than having to travel to Haydock park so we have a full programme schedule for the rest of 2010 and have become a separate PFS region in out own right. the next event is in September 2010

I am married to Julian with son, Luke (3). Interests include cycling, ski-ing and social media (these days). Competed for the Isle of Man as a cyclist in the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games and was successful in several Island Games. I have served as a member of the Isle of Man Sports Council since 2000, and currently chair a sub-committee. meetings meetings meetings
